Guy Speyers was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Guy studied violin and viola with Mr. Pierre Malan and Professor Jurgen Schwietering. In 2006 Guy achieved his Bachelor Degree in music performance from the Nelson Mandela Municipality University majoring in viola with violin as his second instrument. During this time he achieved his Associate of Trinity College diploma in violin performance and a Licenciate from Trinity College in viola performance. In 2007 Guy was appointed as the head of strings at Alexander road high school in Port Elizabeth. Guy was a member of the Eastern Cape Philharmonic orchestra from 2000 till 2009. In this orchestra Guy was a member of the 1st violins till 2005 and then moved to the viola section. In 2006 he became the leader for the viola section. Guy also performed as a soloist with this orchestra in the 2007 concerto festival. In addition to this he was the Orchestra representative from 2008 to 2009. From 2002 to 2006 Guy was a member of the South African National Youth Orchestra, in 2005 he was appointed as the leader of the viola section. In 2006 this orchestra was fortunate enough to have been invited to the Beethoven festival in Bonn Germany where they performed in the Beethoven hall. Guy is currently studying a performance Diploma with Professor Klaus Christa at the Vorarlberg Landeskonservatorium, Feldkirch, Austria. Guy has had master classes with prof Jack de wet, Daniel Rowland, Wolfgang Schmiet, Gareth Lubbe, Thomas Rieble and the Vertavo String Quartet
